Bone Idol (5.8Mb) There was a very good television documentary on the history of New Zealand music. One recurring theme was how difficult it was for original New Zealand artists, like Split Enz to get on television. In the '70s and '80s you could really only get on TV if you played covers. Talent seemed to be optional. Now of course we are far more enlightened which is why we get quality music shows like, um, New Zealand Idol - covers only, talent optional. Worst of all, some of those involved in this colossal national embarrassment are the same artists who couldn't get on telly in their day because of equally ridiculous "talent" quests. You know who you are. A link to this song was distributed with an accompanying press release to a number of local radio stations to mark the impending final of NZ Idol. |
